Why do you only offer telehealth?
Therapeutic & Behavioral Services are holding sessions via telehealth only at this time. We’ve found that telehealth sessions are just as effective with most clients. Give it a try and if it’s not for you we can help you find an in person provider.
What is the hourly fee and forms of payment?
Session fees range from $110-150 per hour, depending on the needs and are offered in hour or 1.5 hour slots.
All sessions include an email recap, weekly action plans and email support throughout the week on an as needed basis.
Emergency sessions are typically available within 24-48 hours.
HSA, FlexPay and major credit cards are accepted.
Do you accept insurance?
There are a few reasons why I have decided not to join insurance panels.
Being credentialed with an insurance company allows them to dictate which clients can seek my services, and I certainly feel people should have the freedom to choose someone with whom they are comfortable.
Insurance then dictates what kind of therapy, treatment duration, and will only pay for x number of sessions.
Lastly, not using insurance allows for additional layers of privacy and confidentiality without the need of a diagnosis.
Upon request, I can provide a Superbill containing required information for one to apply for possible out-of-network benefits. Please note that each insurance company has different requirements.
What will I get out of your therapy?
Quite simply – change. Of course, we’ll spend time talking, but I emphasize the actual do part.
Most importantly you’ll end up being specialized in your area of need and create a toolbox of plans, strategies, tips, and tricks that you’ll be able to pull from for the rest of your life.
You’ll be confident in knowing that you have the tools to handle whatever life decides to throw at you. Not to mention the fact that you will know where to find me for additional support and guidance.
How do I get started?
You can start now by sending me an email, text or giving me a call at (203) 208-8434. You’ll expect to hear back from me within a couple business days.
Initially, we set up a 15-minute phone chat to gather information about your current concerns, explain my therapy style, and ensure we are a good fit to work together.
From there, we can schedule the first session! We will figure out a day and time combination, and this will be your recurring appointment slot each week, so you don’t have to worry about scheduling.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
A last-minute cancellation affects three people: you, me, and another client. Without enough notice, I am not able to give your appointment time to another client who needs support.
I understand that everyone gets sick and there are unforeseen emergencies. I request a 48-hour notice for cancellations but require a 24-hour notice. Without a 24-hour notice, a fee will be charged.
What will happen in therapy and for how long?
The first couple sessions are reserved for information-gathering, assessing symptoms, level of severity, goal setting, and creating a plan of action.
Typically sessions are weekly; however, when in a crisis, twice-per-week sessions are necessary.
As you move through your goals and are confidently and effectively using your strategies we will begin to see each other on a bi-monthly or monthly schedule leading up to a six-month check in. If at any time you feel you need additional sessions, we can set that up!
Who is your perfect client?
Quite honestly, it’s someone who is sick and tired of being sick and tired!
It is someone ready for change, motivated to put in the work, willing to persevere through those inevitable rough spots, and able to put their trust in me to support and guide them toward making a difference in the life that matters most… their own.
Someone with a sense of humor is always a plus… as one of my own life mottos is: if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry! And I tend to do a lot of laughing, even at my own expense!
What are your strengths as a therapist?
I am genuine and transparent… what you see is what you get. I am honest, caring, and straight to the point. I’d much rather ‘do’ than just talk about it – yet I love a good story and laugh.
My ultimate goal is to give each client a toolbox filled with strategies, tips, and tricks that enables them to no longer need me.
What are some fun facts about you as a person?
I love animals – have 2 dogs, 2 cats, school of fish and gaggle of chickens – so I also hate dusting and vacuuming. I would love to have a farm of mini animals (mini cows are the absolute cutest!).
I love to read… edgy, character-driven books with a little heat, a little homicide, and plenty of sharp-whitted characters.
Every year I plant an amazing garden and never have amazing results. I also end up murdering most inside plants – including succulents (wow right?!)
I love to color and find it very relaxing; however, my kids hold all markers hostage and I always find them in tatters… coloring outside the line is just wrong so I keep a stash of mama only markers.
I have a fondness for colorful language—it’s like seasoning for conversation: a little spice makes everything more flavorful. But I can read my audience so grandma’s and youngsters won’t hear it from me 🙂
But I still have more questions…
I’m happy to answer any other questions you may have. You can use the message form below, email colleen@therapeuticbehavioralservices.com, or text/call me at (203) 208-8434 to set up a free 15-minute phone consultation to answer any other questions.
